Three things an independent product brand should fix now, so AI shopping agents pick it

There's a good chance your next customer won't be a person. AI agents are becoming the new go-to when we shop, and our agents don't care how fancy your store's hero banner is ... they care about the specifications of the thing we asked them to find.

Get these three fixes in place soon, so AI shopping agents are more likely to choose your store.

Fix 1: Get your product data in order

Clear titles, sizes, materials and accurate stock levels. Agents just want the data, not the vibe. (I go deeper on this in Pretty product pages? Great. But they need to give AI agents the info they need.)

Fix 2: Put your reviews everywhere

AI agents use reviews, and they want to check the reviews are real and recent. Show yours prominently on your home page and product pages, in your email campaigns, on your Google Maps listing, on Trustpilot and anywhere else you can get 'em out to.

Fix 3: Make your policies easy to work out

I know, I know, you don't want to think about the boring stuff ... but policies matter. If an agent can't work them out, it won't recommend your store to its human. You know that marketing mantra, "a confused mind doesn't buy"? That applies to AI agents too.

The big hitters are already on it

I've found most store owners aren't ready for this tsunami of agent buying yet. The big hitters are, though. Shopify's new Shop skill lets agents browse and pay with Shop Pay. Sierra and Meta's Personal Agent Protocol has Shopify, Stripe, Visa and Mastercard on board. And Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison says agents will reward real product quality.
